Missions & NPCs Populated
Written by Admin

I've spent all day working on

1) a way to automatically populate all the npcs and missions from an excel spreadsheet FLS provided (current as of 1.00.13.00)

2) a more efficient way to parse xml in javascript.  Unfortunately, javascript doesn't have an acceptable crossbrowser xpath implementation, so I've had to do it manually, but now I'm doing it a bit better.  I had to improve this since the "normal" way is slower than molasses...and there are 3500+ missions (I'm missing a few, some had missing npc and port data)

The fruits of my labor:  every port has at least 1 npc (namely Grand Turk, most have far far more -- in fact, the national capitals have so many, you have to scroll down to see them all) with missions.

Currently, I don't have mission descriptions, or rewards, or requirements, only name, start npc, assumed end npcs, and level.

Members can now post comments about almost every mission in the game (the exceptions being those that didn't have a port or npc listed in the spreadsheet -- sorry, can't manually populate 4000 missions)

The PotBS Non Disclosure Agreement has been lifted by FLS.  As such, I have publicly enabled most of the features of this site.  Registration is still required for things that will always require registration, like leaving comments, but registration is free and automatically approved.

I am pleased to announce the launch of the Atlas of the Burning Sea website.

This website is an online database of information about Pirates of the Burning Sea, a new mmo being released by FLS and SOE.  This website is centered around a replica of the retail game map released by Mr. Johnathan White, showing all ports in the game.  At this point in time, most originally planned features have been implemented:

Originally planned features:

  • The ability to view the game map from outside the game
  • The ability to see all ports in-game
  • The ability to see what resources are available at each port

Additional features already implemented:

  • The ability to view a magnified portion of the map
  • The ability to view and post comments about ports
  • The ability to search the map for resources
  • The ability to view a different map for each server, showing unrest and port ownership

Additional features currently planned for implementation:

  • The ability to see what npcs are available at each port
  • The ability to see what missions are available at each port
  • The ability to view and post comments about npcs
  • The ability to view and post comments about missiongs
  • The ability to search the map for npcs, by faction
  • The ability to search the map for npcs, by name
  • The ability to search the map for missions, by level range
  • The ability to search the map for missions, by faction
